The Metal Element and the Alchemy of Grief

The Metal Element asks us what we are ready to release, what is worth keeping, and what can be distilled into gold. In this three-hour workshop, we’ll explore grief, connection, space and transformation through the lens of Five Element acupuncture.

BOOK YOUR PLACE

Stillness is vital to the world of the soul. If as you age you become more still, you will discover that stillness can be a great companion. The fragments of your life will have time to unify, and the places where your soul-shelter is wounded or broken will have time to knit and heal.

You will be able to return to yourself. In this stillness, you will engage your soul. Many people miss out on themselves completely as they journey through life. They know others, they know places, they know skills, they know their work, but tragically, they do not know themselves at all. Aging can be a lovely time of ripening when you actually meet yourself, indeed maybe for the first time.

—John O’Donohue

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

Spring Wood Workshop

Spring Wood Workshop

Join Anna Bernard for a morning of reconnecting with yourself, clarifying your direction, and taking purposeful steps forward.

This three-hour workshop will weave together mindful movement, restorative meditation, and group mentoring to support your connection with the Wood Element. We will explore how to align with growth, vision, and forward movement - rather than forcing yourself to push through exhaustion or resistance. Together, we’ll reflect on frustration and loss of direction, and how these experiences can arise when our plans no longer reflect who we are becoming. By learning to work consciously with your resources, you’ll be supported in placing yourself at the heart of your intentions and nurturing new possibilities.

But what is the Wood Element?

The WOOD element is all about decision making, plans and visions. It’s not just about having dreams, but about how you shape those dreams into plans that really serve you. When I think of the Wood Element, I think of a shoot coming up through the cracks in a pavement: determined and  unstoppable. It is a powerful expansive force like a tree growing upward and outward, defying gravity (because everyone deserves to fly!). That is the energy of Wood and Spring, forging a path towards new beginnings.

The Wood element is full of imagination, hope and potential. It helps us bring our dreams and goals into focus, and turns them into reality. But even the best plans need moments of reflection. With calm intention, we can create a life that is not only vibrant - but also balanced and sustainable.

Water Element Workshop

Join Anna Bernard for a morning of slowing down, reconnecting with yourself, and taking those first steps to create a life that you love.

This three-hour workshop will consist of mindful movement, restorative meditation, and a group mentoring. We will learn how to work with the Water Element - rather than against it. We will talk about burnout and the ways it can affect us, and learn more about how to use our resources so that we can put ourselves front and centre.

But what is the water element?

Winter is a transformational time in Five Element theory, even though seemingly nothing is happening. In nature, all the energy is going on under the ground at this time of year and we are hibernating, ready to burst into Spring with a new remit for our existence. The emotion associated with the WATER element is fear: fears of getting through the season and through life. Water is also associated with our will and our wisdom, both inherent and earnt.

The Metal Element Workshop

The Metal Element Workshop

Autumn, the season of the Metal element, is a time when nature shows us how to release and let go. Metal is often associated with grief, but really, grief is love with nowhere to go. At its core, the Metal element is about connection: to ourselves, others, ideas, and even our values. Throughout history, we’ve created rituals to honor our endings, yet, in today’s fast-paced world, especially in Western society, we’ve lost touch with this essential practice.

In this Metal Element Workshop, we’ll not only honor and process your grief but also help you uncover your deepest values: the compass that can guide you toward a life of greater integrity, meaning, and balance. Together, we will explore how releasing what doesn’t serve you can create space for aligning with what truly matters, so you can live with a renewed sense of clarity and purpose.
